I want to find a way around the perimeter of the city using as much trail and dirt road as possible. Ben and I staked out familiar territory today: from the South Hill to Palisades.
Our next segment will be Palisades to 9 mile. From there, we'll need some northsiders to help us move east to west across the north perimeter of the city. Got any ideas? Lay them on me.
And if you're interested in riding these with us, let me know. We ride on Fridays. From around 9 am to whenever.
Ben showed me a couple new trails today. One from Eagle Ridge down to the cemetery on Cheney-Spokane road that really makes me happy. That was a big piece of non-dirt in my preliminary route.
I went over my bars twice. Twice! The second time was super lame. I was eating an apple and being a dork and not paying attention. I shanked my front wheel. Damn it!
Ben had to use his zen voodoo wheel beating magic powers to make it ridable again.
I have considered going trail riding with you but, well, you always wreck. You're not even drinking. Or are you?
ReplyDeletenope not drinking. maybe that's the reason?
ReplyDeletebut they're not bad wrecks. and they're just because i'm not paying attention or attempting something that's beyond my skill level.
You can ride with me, tomorrow, seven mile, afternoonish, no crashing.
ReplyDeleteAs for the circ de Spokane, I've been thinking about that myself. A few years ago I was introduced to the Flight of the Pigs, a ~70 mile loop(1/2 dirt 1/2 pavement) around Phoenix every year on the day after Thanksgiving. I think Spokane would be perfect for a similar event.
Sean: are you living in spokane now? I've touched base with your blog periodically.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the ride invite -- but I"m domestic man tomorrow. Piles o shite to get done.
I love your idea for the Flight of Pigs. Love it.
If you're tooling around the south side tomorrow, give me a call. It would be cool to meet you. send me email at johnspeare AT gmail dot com for my cell.
Not living here, just visiting. We're in Seattle for a minimum two more years.

ReplyDeleteSome friends and I made the second annual big circle ride (we call it the big fall ride). It's a real kick and we would like to get a few more people interested for next year. Anyway, we can link up the following with out using much pavement at all (almost none) Marshall dips -> white road, fish lake trail -> bluffs -> high bridge -> peoples park -> river trail -> RSP -> pallisades/indian canyon -> FLT & back to marshall. I can't do Friday rides, but I could explain via email if you are interested.
Brent: sounds cool. It sounds like you already did the ride? If so, let me know for next year.
ReplyDeleteSorry I can't give you any trail tips on the north side, me bein' mostly a roadie.
ReplyDeleteIt's kinda hard to tell from the picture, but aren't you supposed to face east when you're using zen voodoo wheel beating magic powers?
