I met the owner of that bike on the bus once. His dad was a landscape photographer for something like National Geographic (or it might have been a gov't job), and bought the bike in the 50s (or maybe earlier). He rode it all over the west coast taking photos from it.
His son has kept it as original as possible, so it is almost all the original parts, or identical replacements.
Top tube mounted shifter?
