Commuting again

A room with a view

After about 4 years of working out of my house, I now have an office out in the real world. And a commute. The commute is about 3.5 miles: from the south hill to east Sprague.

My main routes are here:

The red is fun because it includes the most fun hill in Spokane (Bernard-Grove-Washington). The blue is fun because it includes a fun little dirt section through Liberty Park.

I can mix it up by going the indirect route and taking the high drive trails down to Peaceful Valley, then cutting across the city. Good times.

I like the seperation of home and work. It's nice to get home and not think about work any more.

Your commute looks good. 3.5 miles is a nice length, quick enough to get home quickly and long enough to have some variation in routes. I don't think you enjoy walking as much as I do, but I'd recommend trying the commute as a walk one day too. I think I'd probably walk once a week if I had the right 3.5 mile commute. 12 years ago I had a 2.5 mile commute and I miss those walks...

Sounds like a good distance. Not too long, not too short; my commute is ~4 miles one way.

Commuting by bike has been one of the highlights of my day since I started doing it in May of 2006. It really is a great way to make bicycling a consistent part of your life.

Alex: walking is a hard sell. I think it would take me about 40 minutes or so. That feels so long. Maybe I'll give it a try in the spring when the days are longer.

TLP: I'm excited to have the daily ride again, but I'm already missing being close to the high drive trails for lunch time rides. I'll just have to find some other trails out here.

It looks like you're sharing space w/ OTM, luckily Vien Dong is close by... The Rainbow too. I'll be down for lunch...

Walk? How about running to work in the spring?

Wait, do you have cleaning facilities available?

Microsoft Spokane's office are down on East Sprague with the Hell's Angels? Are they gonna let Bill G. cut in on their turf like that?
